Nagoya to Tokyo any stops worth making 2016/2/8 02:00
I have a return trip back to Tokyo with no rush to get to Tokyo are there any stops worth making for a couple of hours along the way?

Shizuoka could be nice stop for a different view

Izu but mainly for the onsen. Over night is recommended though

Hakone area (But I prefer the Kawaguchi side much better)

I do recommend Kamakura, Enoshima and Yokohama but these can be done as side trip from Tokyo

Shizuoka is interesting - you can check out the city, enjoy some seafood, and visit the Kululun cat cafe: http://animalcafes.com/v/25579.html

Odawara is fairly compact and you can stop off and walk around and visit the castle. If you like kamaboko fish cakes you can explore the Suzuhiro Kamaboko Museum: http://whereintokyo.com/venues/25587.html and try some kamaboko in the restaurant there.

If you can go back a station, stop at Maibara and visit Hikone. The castle is interesting, the views from it are very special and the town is fun.

Note that Odawara Castle is closed until April, so I wouldn't go there unless you will be travelling from April.

Kakegawa Castle is a nice stop with the palace below. Although the castle is reconstructed, attempts were made to make it true to the original. It's a favorite among many Japanese castle lovers.
