Which bus to Koninji temple from Nara? 2016/3/5 17:02
I will be coming to JR Nara station April 8 , 2016 around noon to visit Koninji Temple which is in a rural mountain area south of Nara. There is supposed to be a bus that goes to the temple. If anyone knows which bus and its round trip schedule and cost, please inform me . I believe the bus comes from Nara, but I may be wrong. Thank you for any help you can give me.

The direct bus to the temple has been discontinued, now you need to take two buses.

First take a Nara Kotsu bus to Shimoyama (下山) from bus stop no. 1 at JR Nara station (East exit). There are many buses which stop there, the most frequent being buses number 51 and 92, it takes about 20 minutes.

Then from Shimoyama take a Nara city bus to Takahi-cho (高樋町) bus stop, which is near the temple. There are four buses per day, the timetable is here: http://www.city.nara.lg.jp/www/contents/1428029364976/files/jikokuhyou...

A big thank you to Firas and Hirohiroboy for the above information. Unfortunately, I may have to postpone my trip to Koninji Temple until a later trip when I can stay overnight at the temple (yes, they have simple overnight accommodations at the temple) as the return bus requires a stopover of only a half hour or 4 hours and 26 minutes. Half hour is way too short considering the walk to the temple and 4 hours and 26 minutes is way too long. Again, thank you.
