Hiking from Shin Hotaka to Kamikochi

I will be in Takayama 9th and 10th May 2016 and would like to make a one day hiking trip from Shin Hotaka to Kamikochi.
Is it possible to do this hiking trip beginning of May? Is there a big risk of having snow at the hiking trail?
