Driving from Chitose to Lake Toya

We arrive at Chitose via ANA on 23 September at 3.30pm. Thereafter collect car from Toyota-rent-a-car there. Plan to drive to Lake Toya straightaway.
Can someone please share your experience in driving this route? According to Google Map it will take one and a half hours. I'm still concerned about the weather condition during that period as well as visibility.
We have already booked a hotel room there and wonder if we can reach there before 7.
Any advice will be appreciated.

The drive to Toya-ko is pretty straightforward and as you already know it is just about 1.5 hr. But do note that along the route there are quite a few nice sites worth stopping by. Not sure about your itinerary but it would be a pity if they are skipped especially popular Noboribetsu which is considered the top onsen destination in Hokkaido. https://goo.gl/maps/1mmtpdgcsN12
