Stairs at Himeji

I have developed knee pain but was planning to visit Himeji soon. If I don't go beyond first floor will I miss a lot? Is it possible to get a good idea of the construction from the first floor only?

you have to keep standing in queue and wait 40mins to an hour to enter inside of castle. its not even 1st floor. if you have account and being member here I can give you minute suggestions and advice, but I don't do it to anonymous one-time guest users publicly. wait for other answer.

What a random thing to say! Waiting times vary greatly on the date. And on many days there won't be any waiting times, at all.
I personally think that a visit to Himeji Castle is justified even if you do not enter the castle keep. But note that there are a few short stairs even outside the castle keep. But they are much more easy to climb than the very steep stairs inside the keep.
