can JR Pass use for Shinkansen Hikari?

Hi all, it will be our first family trip to Tokyo this June. Still can't decide whether is it better to purchase JR pass for my family. Thinking of spending a day or 2 @ Osaka.
Can anyone advise whether JR Pass can be used for travelling in Shinkansen HIKARI from TOKYO to OSAKA ?

Yes you can use a Hikari or a Kodama shinkansen between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka.
At Shin-Osaka you can also use the Sakura shinkansen as well.

You can also use the JR Pass on all JR lines around Osaka, although there are not as many as in Tokyo.
