2017 sakura forecast 2016/5/6 16:47
Hello,

I am planning to visit Tokyo & Osaka next year for sakura viewing. This is my first trip to Japan :)

Anyone know when will be the best dates to travel? Thanks in advance.

If you are not joking. Then look at the forecasts from the previous years.

I am also interested to visit Japan next year for Sakura, according to the guide, it mentioned that the Sakura season in Tokyo is between 30 Mar - 6 Apr. I am thinking if I should be there before 30 Mar and stay all the way to 7 or 8 Apr.

The forecasts refer to one type of tree. The actual season is longer, but maybe not the large groves. Most people only know about the one type and focus on that, but hanami is more than that.

Some of the best and most famous spots for hanami season are single trees (some 1400 years old), or ones that do not fit the "forecast".

There is some information here on Japan Guide, but to get a better picture takes more research - I collected a bit onto my web site.

Before posting a new question, check whether your question has already been posted and answered by using the following search function:

Blooming date/peak is NOT fixed depends on weather condition.
If lower temp days a lot will be later.
Sakura is one of wild plant NOT machine with timer.
Full blooming period is not so long like this.

Also Spring weather is not flat, rains and hard winds make peak end faster.
