How hilly is Ohara?

I'd like to make day trip out of Kyoto to see a quieter, more rustic part of Japan. I am travelling with my father who has trouble with stairs and steep paths. Thus, I was wondering whether Ohara would be a suitable place for us, and if anyone had other suggestions for places we could visit.
