You can use train as an option. Train into Tokyo, then Shinkansen to Sendai. Google maps or hyperdia website will show you the way.

If not already purchased air ticket change flight to "KIX(Kanasai/Osaka)"
then to "SDJ/Sendai" by domestic air "Peach" cheaper and very convenient
than via "NRT/Narita".

Or, tranfering at Taipei(Taiwan), Seoul(South-Korea)
or Shanghai,Beijing(China) to Sendai exist as int'l flight.
http://www.sendai-airport.co.jp/flight/international/#arrival
"SDJ" is one of small local airport but "int'l".
Also from this month new int'l line(air company) joined fr/to Taipei.
http://www.tigerair.com/in/en/index.php
(also "India" covered via "KIX")

KIX is biggest "West" Japan(for Osaka/Kyoto)'s int'l airport.
http://www.kansai-airport.or.jp/en/index.asp
NRT/HND are two biggest "East" Japan(for Tokyo)'s int'l airport.
http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/index.html
http://www.haneda-airport.jp/inter/en/
"HND/Haneda" is closer to mid Tokyo than NRT.
Also a lot of int'l cheap flights from South Asia.
(no direct fr/to India)

Thank you to all of you for your replies.
To keep expenses down as much as possible, I want to go by bus as train ticket seems to cost around JPY12,000.- one way.

So if any of you can give me a schedule of the buses , ticket price or a link in English it would be highly useful. Prefer to use overnight bus service.

citubell,

I am afraid there are no English websites.

This is in Japanese, but bus terminals are also shown in English so that you can understand what they mean.

http://www.nariku.co.jp/yakou/sendai.htm

It costs 7700 yen one way.

By the way, most of the visitors of Japanguide should be tourists, so they tend to travel more than one leg. For example, Narita to Sendai to Aomori to Nikko to Tokyo, etc. In these cases, some rail passes are worth considering. In this case, JR East pass Tohoku version.

If your destination is Sendai and you don't need to go anywhere, the night bus might be a good deal.

It is also possible to go to Tokyo by (local) train and take a cheap daytime bus to Sendai (e.g., Willer). That could make the price of transport slightly lower, but leaves open the issue of accomodation for the one night that would be spent on the overnight bus.

To Forog1955
Thank you for your valuable suggestion. In this case, I would be attending a meeting at first. If time permits, then I would visit all those places you have so nicely suggested. Thanks once again.

To Firas:
Already checked your suggested option also bit when there is an overnight bus service from Narita airport, seems not necessary to go to the city to take a bus to Sendai, I think. Thank you for your suggestion also.
