Hakusan and Tateyama

How accessible and easy is Hakusan to hike?
I really liked Tateyama. I don't have a car here in Japan, so I liked that I was able to take the train to Tateyama Station. I liked that there was transportation to different stops on the mountain. I really enjoyed the trails at the different stops.
Is Hakusan anything like Tateyama?
