Kansai Wide Area Pass/ICOCA/Haruka

Hi
I will arrive Kansai on 7 Sept Mor and need to go Kyoto
My itineary is 3Night in Kyoto (7-9)-will go nara/uji
Day 4 (10 Sep) - Kinosaki (overnight)
Day 5-8 Will stay at Shin Osaka- will do day trip to Kobe
I have booked Kansai Wide area pass for valid from 10-14 Sept.
Is it correct to use this pass for this date?
I will combine this with ICOCA & 1 way haruka train to Kyoto.
Or shld i activate kansai wide area pass when I arrive in Kansai ?5 days pass will just cover my return ticket back to osaka from kinosaki on last day.
