To early for booking hotel?

I'm searching on booking sites for hotels/Ryokans in Nagasaki, Beppu and Kagoshima. We plan to go on our honeymoon in June (probably getting wet, I know) and somehow almost all hotels and such seem fully booked, but I can also find less of them available for June than expected. What could be the reason? Am I searching too early for rooms to be available? Is is just busy (though I wouldn't expect it to be in June)? Or does the earthquake in April have something to do with it? Please help me figure this out.

Way too early! Accommodations usually open their booking 3-6 months ahead (depending on the individual accommodation). Check back monthly from 6 months out.
