Hey guys,
So I'll be getting into Sapporo on the 31st December and heading down to Hakodate before heading back to Tokyo on Jan 5th. How should I split up my days between those two cities? 3 in Sapporo, 2 in Hakodate or the other way around and which places has more things to see/do at this time of the year? Any suggestions of things to do would be great too.
Thanks in advanced.

Hokkaido in the snow is very beautiful, I would recommend to rent a car and drive around for a day.

1) I do not suggest you drive in winter unless you have very experience in winter driving. Quite DANGER. 2) 2 days 1 night in Hakodate is quite enough. It takes over 3 hours to get there from Sapporo by Shinkansen. If your flight okay, I suggest you go there when you land in airport. Otherwise, go there next day. 3) stay 3 or 4 nights in Sapporo. Many places you can visit there. 4) Otaru can be one-day-trip. No need to stay night.
You need to check your schedule and hotel booking , and check the train schedule too.
