Wakayama to Kudoyama Station?

Hi! I'm going to catch the ferry from Tokushima to Wakayama. I'd then like to make my way to Kudoyama Station, so that I can walk the Kōyasan chōishi-michi.
Is there an easier way between Wakayama and Kudoyama station? Early research shows a 3h train trip via Osaka!

Just by "Nankai(via Tengachaya)" operate numbers a lot than JR.
Via JR line is the shortest. (open Google maps)
Use HyperDia again.
