Advice on a detour

This will be our second time in Japan and while most of the itinerary is sorted I have a question around the middle bit.
We�fll be 5-6 nights in Kyoto involving day trips to Nara/Osaka and Himeji to start with.
The last 5-6 nights will be in Tokyo involving a day trip to Nikko and possibly Yamagouchi Monkey park.
Here�fs the bit I need advice with, we wanted to visit Takayama again, Shrikawa Go for the first time and Kanazawa for the first time. Snow monkey we have never been either.

We could do:
• Kyoto - Takayama – Stay overnight
• Takayama - Shrirakawa Go - Kanazawa – Stay overnight
• Kanazawa – Stay overnight
• Kanazawa - Jigokudani - Hakone - Stay Overnight
• Hakone - Tokyo
Or
• Kyoto - Hakone – Stay overnight
• Hakone - Jigokudani - Kanazawa – Stay overnight
• Kanazawa - Shirakawa - Takayama – Stay overnight
• Takayama - Tokyo
There are also two alternatives:
• Kyoto - Kanazawa – Stay overnight
• Kanazawa - Shirakawa - Takayama – Stay overnight
• Takayama - Hakone – Stay overnight
• Hakone - Tokyo

Or

• Kyoto - Hakone – Stay overnight
• Hakone - Kanazawa – Stay overnight
• Kanazawa - Shirakawa - Takayama – Stay overnight
• Takayama - Tokyo

What do you think will be easier to do and make more sense?

1. You never mentioned your entry and exit airports
2. Will you be using a pass? JR Pass or regional pass?
3. WHAT'S WITH A MONKEY?! Have you not seen a monkey before?
4. Google and Hyperdia is your friend

When you're in Kyoto, go to the Arashiyama area to see monkey park there. However, if you really are adamant in visiting monkey park, I suggest you to do this detour but really not a detour, assuming you have a pass already that will cover all your travel:

- Kyoto to Kanazawa
Kanazawa tour.
Make sure you ride the earliest Thunderbird.
Base: Kanazawa

- Kanazawa to Shirakawago by bus.
If you have time visit Gokayama.
Shirakawago to Takayama by bus.
(Bus travels are not part of JR Pass except for Takayama-Hokuriku Pass. Bus from Kanazawa to Shirakawago to Takayama requires advance reservation. Check Nohi Bus.)
Base: Takayama.

Toyama shinkansen ride to Nagano
Base: Nagano

- Nagano tour including Jigokudani
Nagano shinkansen ride to Tokyo
