Rainbow Card (Osaka) 2017/1/3 15:49
Hi there. I came across the Rainbow Card on this website: http://www.osaka-info.jp/en/plan/practical_information/travel_passes/r...

Would just like to confirm if it's applicable for the following routes?:
1) Kansai Airport to Namba Station via Nankai Express (does the Rainbow Card cover the Nankai Rapi:t too?)
2) Osaka to Nara via Kintetsu Nara Line Rapid Express
3) Nara to Kyoto via Kintetsu Limited Express
4) Subway routes both in Osaka and Kyoto

Some additional questions:
1) Where can I buy this card in Kansai Airport?
2) There is "no expiration date"; which means I can use this card anytime until the prepaid money (e.g., if I choose to buy the 2,000 yen amount) runs out?

Thank you!

Depending on your arrival time, when you arrive at KIX, go first to the Kansai Information Tourist Center and ask if they are issuing the Rainbow Card. Another is at Nankai KIX Station.

This Kansai Rainbow Card was taken in 2010 https://www.flickr.com/photos/nana_aristocat/4696147488. Another one is published by Japan Travel Guide http://m.japan.travel/img/walk/img_kyt_trans_007.gif.

Try to compare those pictures here http://www.kotsu.city.osaka.lg.jp/library/img/english/subway/map.pdf.

Maybe it's wrong to say but as I see, not all stations and line that you want are part of Rainbow Card. You may confirm that and your other questions when you get to KIX.

I am not sure whether the residual amount in the Rainbow Card can be used to purchase ticket i.e. Nankai Rap:t seat from KIX to Namba. Consequently, discounted Rap:t seats can be purchased as Kanku Tokuwari (at the ticket office) or Kanku Webtoku (online) also issued by Nankai.

Best bet is by using IC card with wider coverage like ICOCA or use Surutto Kansai pass.

The Rainbow Card will be discontinued on 31 March. It was introduced at a time when IC cards were not as convenient as they are now, there is now no reason to use it.

Actually, IC cards didn't even exist. The Rainbow Card was introduced in 1996, Icoca in 2003, and Pitapa in 2004.
