Is it worth visiting Mt Fuji in February 2017/1/9 19:20
We are attending a wedding in Bangkok Feb 18th and thinking of stopping in Tokyo at least since flights all connect somewhere in Asia to Bangkok. I would love to see Mt Fuji but is this a risky time of year weather wise to see much ? We would probably go after the wedding rather than before thinking the weather would be better later in February. Any other advise for travelling, visiting in Japan would be much appreciated as we are planning this quite late - yet it seems more worthwhile for already making the long trip to Thailand. Thanks !

You can view it but definitely not climb it. The Fuji Five Lakes area is especially lovely and generally speaking it's less likely for Fujisan to be covered in cloud that time of year. I would suggest staying at a ryokan in the area. Some have Fujisan views from the onsen too.

Weather-wise, winter is actually the best time to go as there's a greater chance of clear days. But it's impossible to say if the days you choose to visit will be clear! If the weather doesn't turn out to be clear, at least there's lots of other things to see and do in Tokyo!
