Shinkansen time schedule from Osaka to Saporo

Dear Sir / madam,

Would you please advise me time schedule of Shinkansen from Osaka to Saporo.
Whether can take overnight train?
How to get ticket for JR-pass holder.
At what station to change the train, and name of the train.

Osaka to Sapporo would be best by plane. The train takes at least 10 hours and the travel must be done during the day. Please look into a flight from Kansai or Itami to Chitose.

Indeed, if you do not plan to visit some cities on the way, it is more convenient to take a plane. But, there are plenty of nice cities to visit. If you still want to see a timetable, you can use hyperdia as follows:

- Search from Osaka or Shin-Osaka to Tokyo, and un-select the option Shinkasen Nozomi/Mizuho/Hayabusa (you cannot use Nozomi shinkansen with the JR pass)
- Then, search from Tokyo to Sapporo, and this time you can select Shinkansen Nozomi/Mizuho/Hayabusa because you can use the Hayabusa shinkansen between Tokyo and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto with your JR pass (beware, all seats are reserved !)

You will see it will take you around a full day (which is not surprising as the distance is +/- 1700 km)

Unfortunately, you shouldn't untick the Nozomi/Mizuho/Hayabusa box because the Hayabusa is allowed on the JR Pass.

Osaka to Shin-Osaka to Tokyo (timetable excluding Nozomi.

Then do a second search: Tokyo to Sapporo using Hayabusa.

I read the Twilight Express (night train from Osaka to Sapporo and back) yesterday and poof this topic came into light. Japan used to have that night train but it was already discontinued.

Maybe the OP's preference of night train refers to the eastward morning train from Osaka to Tokyo via Sunrise express then day train (shinkansen and ltd exp combined) from Tokyo all the way to Sapporo.

Honestly, just fly between Osaka and Sapporo only if you are not visiting any other cities in between them.

Japan Rail Pass only covered Sunrize Seto/Izumo's
"nobi-nobi seat(ノビノビ座席/as floor,without bed)" car.
No covered other comfortable A/B sleeper(with bed) cars.

And booking nobi-nobi seat often hard
mainly for every weekend and long holidays and last nights.
Also no online booking form for out of Japan.

So flight recommend if no need stop over Tokyo or other tourist towns.
