Hi, we want to drive around in Hokkaido (Sapporo - Asahikawa - Sounkyo Onsen - Furano - Kushiro - Sapporo ) from 19 okt. untill 24 okt. . Will the roads be free of snow? Will I need snowchains? Do you have other information ? Thank you for helping us.

I currently live in Hokkaido. Since the first snow falls in October of the year, preparations are necessary if you are traveling on the Pass road. Since the use of snow chains is not permitted in Hokkaido, we recommend that you prepare studless tires.

Since the road from Asahikawa to Kushiro must cross the Taisetsuzan , it must cross the Sekihoku Pass or Mikuni Pass. As this pass road is a place where many accidents occur many curves, attention is necessary.
