How do I claim tax refund if I buy an item from a local Japanese company which does not have tax-free service for tourists? I intend to visit a health fair in Tokyo next month & purchase a hydrogen generator for my personal use. I'm paying in advance via bank transfer because this company does not accept credit card. I'll pay the full amount including tax in advance but what is the procedure to claim the tax refund?

You can't. Tax-free shopping is only possible at participating stores.
