Owakudani Bubbling Pools access? 2017/1/30 22:45
When I was in Japan last time I was amazed at the wonderful sight of the Bubbling Sulphur pools at Owakudani about 10 minutes walk into the mountain.
With the volanic activity I know this area has been closed for a while. Right now, some hiking trails are open only from 9:00-17:00. Is this part up to the bubbling pools accessible? I checked the website of Owakudani but I do not understand which part is still closed and whether this 10 minute walk to the bubbling pool open.

According to the Hakone Town website, the walking trail to the bubbling ponds is still closed:

You can`t walk up as close as you could on your last visit. There are concerns about gas. The ropeway is also closed due to repair for a few weeks. The Hakone Tourism English Facebook page answered messages really quickly https://www.facebook.com/HakoneTravel/
