from the japan guide website, it is stated that "In 2017, the entire route is scheduled to be open from April 15 to November 30". i'll be in Takayama on 12-14 April and would like to visit the Tateyama Alpine if it is really open on 15th April. is there anyway to confirm this?

thank you for the link.
i'm very confused with the various passes on offer as none seems to cover all the rides. would appreciate any advise.
my itinerary as follow: day 1 - arrive Nagoya and head straight to Takayama day 2 - takayama and Shirakawa-go day 3 and 4 - Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route day 5 - head back to Nagoya
the tourist pass that seem to match my itinerary is: - Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass \14,000 - Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area Tourist Pass \17,500
which pass is more suitable? or is there another type of pass for consideration?
is the pass worthwhile or i'm better off getting individual ticket?

is "Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Ticket" still available or it is being replaced by "Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area Tourist Pass"?
is there any link?

Kindly refer to the links above. Maybe you are referring to the option ticket which is a one way travel to alpine route, with or without pass.
Is not the official website of Alpine Route has link on that as well?

What I mean to 'with or without pass' is travelling prior to Alpine Route, that is either via Toyama or Nagano/Matsumoto, whose ticket is paid separately to get there or whose travelling with JR Pass. The option ticket serves as a discount pass as well as a supplementary to existing pass if there is.
