How to purchase online tickets

We would like to purchase advance tickets to secure seats on the following trains for 29 March, Tokyo to Nagoya to Takayama.

Is it necessary to purchase in advance before we arrive or will we be able to get tickets on arrival in Tokyo on this date as we want to be able to travel on this train.

I could be wrong, but I doubt you would have any issue getting tickets upon arrival.

Should be fine. The Hida 11 is probably one of the more popular trains because of the arrival time in Takayama, but the 29th is not a special travel day.
