Do I need a permit to climb Mt Fuji?

It has been 2 years since this post http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quereadisplay.html?0+124513 and I was wondering if it's still the same?

We intend to climb Mt Fuji via the Yoshida trail in the middle of July; will we need to apply any permits or submit any forms?

I've never started done the Gotemba trail up Fuji before, however I've did the Fujinomiya in 2015 and 2016 and there was no form or permit required at all. You just show up and start walking uphill. I would expect the same to be true at Gotemba 5th station.
