Two day walks - Kumano Kodo

Hi,

I am travelling with two friends to Japan at the end of September. We have limited time, but would like to do two days on the Kumano Kodo. Ideally we would finish somewhere which enables us easy access to a sweet little guesthouse we've found which is inland from Susami - it looks like the loveliest place to recover from our walk and also to celebrate my birthday.

The information on the official website is excellent, but also very dense, and we're struggling to work out a plan that allows us to finish at the Nachi Shrine by 2pm, which would enable us to bus and train to Susami in time for a pick up.

We've heard the most scenic part of the Nagahechi is between Hongu and the Nachi Shrine. Is it possible to do some of the standard second day by bus between Koguchi to reduce the time walking?

Any suggestions welcome!
