Sumo bowing ritual

I was wondering why some rikishi bow lower. Does the losing fighter have to bow first at the end of the match? Some barely bow. Is that considered disrespectful? Thank you so much.

It's a matter of personality. How deep the losing wrestler bows is up to him. He will be called back if he doesnt bow or the gyoji thinks he didnt bow deeply enough.

Thx. Have never seen anyone not bow but definitely seen bows that were half hearted. Do you know if there is a roster if some sort that has lower ranked wrestlers pictures. A wrestler in Hakata allowed us to take his pic and I'm curious to know who and how he is faring.

If you ask on sumoforum.net I'm sure you will get an answer. They all know far more than I do. I am a member but mainly lurk :)
