Why is Takeda Castle name Takeda

Its often made me wonder why a castle would be named after the greatest Sengoku Daimyo yet have no connection to the clan, what is the reason for this??

Well, the castle is called 竹田 castle, while the daimyo is from the 武田 family. Both are pronounced Takeda, but as you can see the first kanji is different.
My assumption would be that 竹田 is simply the name of the place where it was built. bamboo field.
