I was an Air Policeman at Tama Ammo SQ 1955 to 1957. I would like to know the date the SQ deactivated. The Depot is now Tama Recreation Center and it is implied that the Ammo Depot was closed in 1956. It was still a full blown Ammo Depot when I departed i the fall of 1957. Your thoughts and memories would be appreciated.

The U.S. military stopped making ammunition in 1967. In 1969, approximately 12,000 square meters of land was returned as the site for the municipal Inagi Central Hospital, and in December 1973, approximately 556 square meters on the east side of the facility was returned as land for a park. In October 1977, the name was changed to "Tama Service Auxiliary Facility".

Dear haro1210, Thank you for the really good information in your post. If it is O.K. with you, may I ask the source of this information? I want to create a website of 2715 Ammunition Supply SQ , Japan and Minami-Tama where this SQ was located. I will need all the sources of information possible. I lived there when it was dirt roads and thatched roof houses. Again thank you
