Dear visitor, if you know the answer to this question, please post it. Thank you!

To Goryokaku for the Former Magistrate Office 2023/10/31 22:11
We'll have one day in Hakodate. If we (a group of 8, with some elderly) were to take two taxis from JR Hakodate station to Goryokaku Park for a stroll and to see the Former Magistrate Office, but have no interest in visiting the Goryokaku Tower, according to this access map below, where should we ask the taxi drivers to drop us off, so that our walk to the Former Magistrate Office can be 10 minutes or less?

How many entrances are there to enter the Goryokaku Park?
Thank you in advance.

There are two entrances to the inner area of Goryokaku. The easiest and fastest to access is the one just next to the Goryokaku Tower.

You can see the two entrances here (they consist of bridges):

Are you sure that you want to skip the Tower?
Personally, I found the Tower to be more educational and interesting, and you also get the view.

Thanks to Uji, for your quick response.

To kamahen, we are more interested in seeing the (reconstructed) interior of the Magistrate Office:

but I'll keep what you said about the tower in mind.

For my visits I could easily skip the tower. Yes, it provides a view, but so does the viewing areas on Mt Hakodate. The Magistrate's Office (partial reconstruction) is well worth a visit.

Of all touristic towers across the world, the Goryokaku Tower is one of the most meaningful, because the amazing shape of the fort is difficult to appreciate from the ground. If you have the time, I recommend a visit.
