Shops open during National Foundation Day?

May I know what to expect during the National Foundation Day on 11 February 2024?

Are shops open?

Will tourist attractions be very crowded?

11/Feb/24 is a Sunday which means that Monday 12/Feb will be a public holiday so a long weekend. But in the middle of the winter.

Will shops be open: yes, generally
Will attractions be open: yes, most definitely and those that normally close on Mondays should be open on the Monday too but closed on the Tuesday.
Will it be crowded: maybe in some ski resorts. But elsewhere it�fs in the middle of winter. So not that many people are traveling (both Japanese and foreigners)

It's Chinese New Year that weekend and many countries in Southeast and East Asia celebrate it. So may see an increase in tourism during that period.

Tourist attractions and city centers do tend to be very crowded during long weekends such as Feb 10-12, 2024, even if it's in the middle of winter.

For many locals, it's a rare time they get whole 3 days off from work or school or both if you have family. Also note that Feb 11 is the last day of the Sapporo Snow Festival 2024.

And, yes, shops would be open to attract the many visitors.
