Divorce support 2024/1/21 04:00
Ifm researching sources of support for a British national married to a Japanese woman for 20 years & 3 children under 16. Marriage has irretrievably broken (serial infidelity by wife) down but British national fears divorce due to risk of losing access to children, loss of home & immigration status (on a spouse visa). Any advice or sources of support very welcome (good lawyers, support groups for other men in this situation).

other things depend on your situation. in general, if you have a steady job in Japan, you will have no problem in immigration matters.
why are you fear loss of home (I presume it is house) ? are you a dependent of your wife ?

Check those, many good, bad, not to do advice .. and worse

Married for 20years.. living in Jpan for how long? Why no Permanent Resident?

(serial infidelity by wife) .. if you have proof, you can sue for financial damages on both parties, wife and the partner. May also use that as leverage to nego custody/partial custody etc.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your situation.

Legal consulting service for foreigners living in Japan:

I have taken a friend in trouble there - they can answer questions regarding what to expect, what can be done, etc. They do have immigration officers in the back office that they can advise you about immigration matters too.

If you have been married for that long and have been in Japan together, you could go for Permanent Resident status? Best wishes.
