Mid September is too late... 2024/2/4 21:54
From the official Japan web site for climbing the mountain...

‚p When is the official climbing season?
‚` Yoshida Trail: July 1 to September 10
Subashiri, Gotemba and Fujinomiya Trails: July 10 to September 10

So, if you want to climb in September, I would plan on first week or so of month at latest.

As well, the weather starts to get colder by this time meaning more layers and trekking up the mountain with more "stuff" to carry.

In 2024, there is going to be a system where you have to pay some fees and they I believe are saying will be limiting the numbers of climbers each day.

Watch the www.fujisan-climb.jp/en/ for more info and to get your questions answered.

Hope this helps.
