Arashiyama transportation from site to site 2024/2/21 06:39
We will be coming from Kyoto and have a morning reservation at Kokedera (Moss Temple).
We are traveling with someone who can't ride a bike or walk long distances.

1) what is the best way to get to Kokedera from Kyoto?
2) What is the best way to get between Kokedera (Moss Temple), Bamboo Forest and Kimono Forest or other must see sites in Arashiyama? Would we be able to get a taxi at each site? Take a bus? Which parts could we walk not too far between?
Thank you!

Arashiyama's sights are all walking distances apart. Maybe 15 minutes at most. Monkey Park, bridge , river, temple, kimono Grove, bamboo Grove etc.

Kokedera isn't really near / part of Arashiyama. Taxi or walk + train would work.

There is a bus to Kokedera or alternatively taxi.
Within the rest of Arashiyama walking is the best choice. But if one of your party canft walk that much consider bringing a wheel chair. Alternatively there are rickshaws. Quite expensive but an experience.

My last visit to Kokedera was taxi from the central city - for us it was the best option - delivered to the "door". But if you have someone with limited mobility, the monkey park wouldn't be a starter, and even walking around the Arashiyama area involves some hills and a bit of walking. Take it slow. (and a taxi from Kokedera to Arashiyama is about 2000 yen for the ~3km)

Thank you! Was the taxi readily available at Kokedera or did you have to call one somehow?
