I know that this has been asked before, but I want current information. I need distilled water for a CPAP machine; is that available in Japan, and if so, where?

You can buy them in stores or even just order cases of distilled water online. Rakuten or Amazon are good places to look.

I'm only visiting Japan for two weeks, so that solution doesn't really apply, but thank you!

I think seiseisui (¸»… , purified water) might possibly be a little easier to find, and it is okay for use with a CPAP machine. You can find it at practically any Matsumoto Kiyoshi. Similar stores will probably have it as well. Drugstores that fill prescriptions and also sell OTC medicines and products will almost certainly have it, too. I had no trouble finding it in cities. In the hinterlands, you might have more trouble. For example, if you go to Hakone or Shirakawago, you might want to pick up enough to last you for as many nights as you are staying. (It comes in bottles that should last a couple of nights depending on the size of your humidifier and how long you run the machine.)

in general, distilled water called by ordinary people is de-ionized water. it is made by passing through mixed-bed resins of cation and anion beads. for public people's usages, it is OK perfectly.
