I bought a little owl charm at Benten-do hall in Ueno Park, Tokyo.Could any one tell me the significance of the owl in this case? Thanks.

The only thing I know about an owl charm is that it represents loss of a child (or someone close to you?). I'm not sure if that is all it represents, I'm sure it isn't.

In Ueno, since there is a zoo, there seem to be many "charms" that have animal designs. One story I heard is that owls symbolizes the being that watch over the souls of the animals :)

Owl means "fukuro" in Japanese. "fuku" means "happiness". Therefore, an owl charm brings you happiness.

I'm not sure if I'm right about this, but when I bought owl charms from a specialty store in Japan, they also said they signified long life and wisdom. Hope this helped.
