Transport from Shin-Fuji Station 2007/7/23 20:42
Hi I am planning to climb Mt Fuji on the 26th July to get to the 8th station and then climb to the summit for sunrise the next day. I will be travelling from Osaka the day before by Shinkansen so was wondering what the bus schedules are from Shin-Fuji station. I would also like to visit some of the lakes in the area in the morning and then start my climb in the afternoon. Any bus information would be helpful

Uji,

Thanks for the info. What are my options walking down from Mt Fuji and what buses will take me back to Shin-Fuji station?

Cable cars/sky ride at Mt Fuji? 2007/7/26 02:01
I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but are there cable cars or some sort of sky ride that would take us to the top of Mt Fuji instead of climbing it by foot? I'm not a climber but would love to see Mt Fuji and the 5 Lakes, is it possible that I can do that without actually climbing it? And what would be the best route to take if I just wanted to do a day trip to Mt Fuji. What time should I leave from Tokyo to get to Mt Fuji, assuming that I hope to leave Mt Fuji by sunset.

There is only one trail back to the Fujinomiya 5th Station. There are three other 5th Stations, but they don't have direct bus connections to Shin-Fuji Station:

The same that brought you up.

No! But there are roads as far as the "5th Station", halfway up the mountain.
