Best Sites to Visit in Yanagawa 2010/4/22 18:12
I'm currently on my 3rd week in Fukuoka and I'm planning to visit Yanagawa on Sunday. Aside from the Gondola Ride and eating unagi, what are the best things to do or best places to go to in Yanagawa?

I'm interested in historical sites and nature sceneries (trees, flowers).

I also saw a walking map from the Yanagawa Homepage and I'm wondering if the entire city is walkable.

Thanks!

The following are some other sites in Yanagawa. They are walk-able between themselves but quite a distance from the rail station.

Ohana Villa/ Shoto-en Garden

Make sure to try all different ways of unagi cooking.
Have your sendo san(donko boat captain) point the family house of Yoko Ono.
You may want to stop (or on the next trip) at Kurume and have a delicious ramen. Also visit the Bridgestne Foundation Art Museum & park toward the mountain(east) called Ishibashi Cultural Center(reverse of Bridgestone in Japanese, get it?)& Nonaka Koen where you can enjoy beautiful & famous Azalea, carps(koi), etc.
