Do I need JR pass ...? 2010/4/28 16:22
Hi, I'll go to Osaka 12.May. Osaka-Kyoto, Kyoto-Nara (and back), Kyoto-Mount Fuji (and back), Kyoto-Osaka. Is it better tu buy JR Pass (in advance) or just Kansai Pass + some one way ticket to Mount Fuji (by Shinkansen). Is it possible to buy one day ticket by Shinkansen from Kyoto to Mount Fuji? Is it possible to buy this ticket in Kyoto?
Thank you for your time.

A shinkansen round trip between Osaka and Mount Fuji costs around 24,000 yen. If you use other JR trains worth 4000 yen or more within a 7 day period, then a Japan Rail Pass will pay off. I don't think you will, as urban train tickets between Osaka, Kyoto and Nara are rather inexpensive, and sometimes non-JR trains are more convenient than JR trains.

So, I personally would go for regular tickets rather than a rail pass.
