Twinkle Bus Service

I will be travelling to Hokkaido during late July. Can I use JR Pass to board the Twinkle Bus in Furano and the access bus in Kamikawa that bring me to Sounkyo Hot Springs village?

The Japan Rail Pass was not valid on the Twinkle buses in 2009 as outlined on the following page, and I think it is unlikely that this will change this year:

No, the bus to Sounkyo is not JR and not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. YOu can JR as far as Kamikawa and catch the bus from there. Alternatively, note that some ryokan offer free shuttle bus rides for staying guests between Asahikawa and Sounkyo:
