Hi All

We are considering travel in Japan during Aug 12-17. Is it really crowded? Hard to book accom / train fares?

It depends where you are going. But generally, yes, it is very crowded, especially sites popular among families, and it can be difficult to book trains and hotels as explained on the following page:
