Getting around in Nara 2010/6/5 13:20
Hi everyone,
Is it easy to get around in Nara by bus? Heard about the "Nara Kotsu" loop line, does it take you to most major sightseeing spots?
Thanks in advance!

I would not call it easy. There are lots of lines, lots of stops. Not everything is in English. It can be done, but I would not call it easy.

Having said that, central Nara is walkable. For accessing the less central sights, access by train and/or bus is recommended. You can get details for each sight on the following page:

The loop line serves only central Nara. But not the less central sights such as Yakushiji, Toshodaiji, Heijo Palace or Horyuji.

Unlike Kyoto, almost all of the famous sights in Nara are located at walking distance from each other in a beautiful area.
