Village and a Factory near Tokyo 2010/6/9 19:38
Hello,
I am interested in visiting a beautiful countryside in Japan, where we can see the real japanese culture, may be some old buildings..
Also we would like to visit any Manufacturing factory that is open to public.
Any suggestions regarding this.
Sites near Tokyo are highly appreciated.
Thanks

You must mean "traditional" rather than "real". My favorite traditional towns are Tsumago and Magome in the Kiso Valley, but I am afraid they are not very close to Tokyo:

Not quite as picturesque, but closer to Tokyo are Sawara:

And Kawagoe (a city with some old streets rather than a village):

What kind of manufacturing are you looking for? Traditional crafts? Cars? Beer?

Thank you very much Uji!!
It's really kind of you to give so many links.
Well regarding the factories, we had opportunity to see the Kirin Beer Factory in Yokohama. But unfortunately we could not see the actual manufacturing taking place since it was Sunday and the factory was closed.Actually my Father is visiting us and he himself owns a small manufacturing unit back home.So he is really interested in any similar place where he can see the actual process.Cars,Food products or cans anything will be great.Hope you find something.
