Hokkaido trip in July

We will be visiting Hokkaido end of July. We are planning to spend 8 days and 7 nights there. Is there any interesting place/ town to visit nearby the Chitose Airport? We planned to stay near to Chitose Airport or any town that is near to it.

You have to check out Furano for the flower fields. We were there in 2007 and Farm Tomita was great to visit.
