I will be visiting tokyo from 2 oct to 9 oct and wanted to cover nikko while visiting tokyo. I wanted to go to Yumoto Onsen and Lake Chuzenji. Do you think 1 day is enough to cover these 2 area?

If you go just to Lake Chuzenji and Yumoto, one day should be enough. But if you also wish to see the shrines and temples in the town, it will probably be too much. It also depends on your personally preferred pace of travel and on how early you are willing to get up in the morning.

Hi Uji,
Thanks for your reply. Is there any direct bus from Yumoto onsen down to Chuzenji? I think the journey between these 2 places is abt 15 mins am I right? I wanted to see the Ryuzu fall and Kegon fall and lake chuzenji.
Thanks.

I spent 6 weeks in Japan during the summer. My friend that lives there took me on a trip to Nikko. We toured the temples and tourists sights one day and then stayed at an onsen, then sight seeing on the second day. She only had two days off. I found myself wishing we had stayed two nights. It is great to get out of the huge city and experience the country and mountain side. SO I would have to say, if you can stay two nights and have a wonderful experience. That way you won't feel rushed. Enjoy your trip.

Hi all,
Thanks everyone for the recommendation and replies. I wanted to spend a night there as well, but is very expensive to stay there. Any ryokan near yumoto onsen which is cheap and nice to stay for a night?
Thanks.
