Info on Roppongi Somerset apartments? 2010/9/23 11:17
Hi, I am considering to stay at Roppongi Somersets apartments with my family of 2 kids, age 3 and 1. I am wondering if the facilities around the apartment are child friendly? Is it easily to move around with stroller or even luggages?
There are two subway stations near to it accordingly to the Somerset website. I have heard that some stations only have stairs to get in and out of the station. Wondering if the Roppongi station or Roppongi i-chrome station are stroller friendly.

Thanks.

Thanks! How about Roppongi station? Is this station nearer to somerset apartments or Roppongi itchrome station? Sorry to ask such a question as it's my first trip to japan! More frightening, it's with kids!!
I'm going to Disney resort before checking into somerset Roppongi. Do u know the friendliest way to move from Disney to somerset with 2 luggages, a stroller and 2 monkeys?? Disney is connected to JR line. Roppongi is a subway line , right?? How do I connect them smoothly?

Thanks again

Distance

Roppongi station - Somersets : 400 meters
Roppongi Itchome - Somersets : 400 meters

transit
TDR - JR Maihama - 5 stops(or 2 stops by Rapid Train) - JR Hatchobori - Subway Hibiya Line Hatchobori - 7 stops - Roppongi

If you are worried, take a taxi at JR Tokyo station(the next stop of Hatchobori)

supermarket 2010/9/23 23:07
Thanks V! Great information.
By the way, does anyone knows if there is any big supermarket near Roppongi Somersets where I can purchase daily and baby products like diapers, food, milk powder etc etc?
Is there any nice interesting places that I must visit while staying at Roppongi? Read some reviews where it says it can be quite unsafe to be out in the night. Is it true?
Will be staying there for 4 nights? Anyone has any suggestion?

Thanks!

I think the nearest supermarket is going to be in the Tokyo Midtown complex (probably about 400 metres from Roppongi station, but away from the Somerset). There is a 7-11 next to the Somerset.

As for the area, I personally would not want to stay there. It is a souless place with an elevated multilevel expressway running past the front of the building. Is there a reason you want to stay there? Check the area on Google Streetview:

Maybe check out Tokyu Stay? These are more like hotels with everything in them (washing machine, kitchen area, microware, etc). I have stayed at the Gotanda location, it is next to the subway and a couple of minutes walk from JR Gotanda on the Yamanote line and there is a supermarket also a few minutes walk away:

I think you would need the twin room, but is seems you have to call them for this room.

The Ayoyama location is north of Roppongi and located a few minutes from the subway. There is a supermarket about five minutes walk away. Twin rooms are located on the 24th and 25th floors for great views.

Tokyo stay looks really nice 2010/9/24 08:25
Thanks RobBeer! Have check out both the websites you have given me and they look really really good!
Gotanda seems cheaper in rates but will consider Aoyama as you mentioned about the views from the high floors. Just for info, are the JR stations Gotanda and Gaienmae stroller friendly?

Thanks!

Oakwood 2010/9/24 09:26
How about Oakwood Aoyama? Has anyone stayed here before? The apartments looks big. However, when I run through its website, it seems to be catered for a month stay. Does anyone knows if it take in short stay like 3 nights?
How convienent is this place? Supermarkets? near to station which are stroller friendly?
Thanks!

You are picking out fairly expensive, excellent apartments. I think you should take a cab as you aren't on tight budget.

Oakwood Aoyama is just north of the Aoyama Tokyu Stay, so both are just around the corner from the Daimaru Peacock Supermarket. There also seems to be a Toyku Store across the street from Daimaru Peacock. Both are also near to Gaienmae subway station. I don't know how stroller friendly this subway station is. As for your question on JR Gotanda, there is an elevator from the entrance to platorms.

Daniel:
You may wish to explore the bus. Buses run from airports and also from city center.
