Advise my 9 days itinerary 2010/11/2 14:04
hello everyone. I am going to Japan in April 2011 and it is my first time visit. There'll be 3 of us and each of us have their desired place to visit. Since it's only 9 days, I had a tough time planning the itinerary. I hope someone can advise my plan so that I can improve them.

Plan 1
Day 1:Kyoto (kiyomizudera & Maruyama park)
Day 2:Kyoto (Arashiyama)
Day 3:Kyoto (Gion & shopping district)
Day 4:Osaka (Kaiyukan & USJ)
Day 5:Nara
Day 6:Tokyo (Shinjuku, Shibuya)
Day 7:Tokyo (Ueno, Harajuku)
Day 8:Tokyo (Day trip to Hakone)-can we go by bus? or shall we go to Yokohama?
Day 9:Tokyo (do some shopping for souvinir everywhere-Night flight back home

Plan 2
Day 1:Kyoto (kiyomizudera, Maruyama park & Kiyamachi(or anywhere for souvinir)
Day 2:Kyoto (Arashiyama, Gion & Kawaramachi)
Day 3:Osaka (Kaiyukan & USJ)
Day 4:Nara
Day 5:Nagano
Day 6:Nagano
Day 7:Tokyo (Shinjuku,Harajuku)
Day 8:Tokyo (Ueno)
Day 9:Tokyo

Are they feasible? Will I be able to catch some cherry at full blossom? Thanx alot for your kind help.

What to do an what not to do depends on personal interests. But the following guide and the ratings might be a help to make up your mind:

As for the USJ, I personally would devote an entire day to it. There is a lot to do and the admission is expensive. But I guess that is personal preference.

Day trip to Hakone-can we go by bus?

Yes, but the train is the preferred means by most travelers. Here are your options:

Will I be able to catch some cherry at full blossom?

If you go in early April, you are likely to catch them somewhere:
