Taxi Capacity 2011/1/1 21:26
Does anyone know taxi capacity in hokkaido if it can take 3 adults and 3 24" luggages?

What time does the jr close for Hokkaido pass exchange at abashiri?

Throughout Japan, taxis usually seat four or five people (in addition to the driver) and have a large trunk for ample of baggage. Assuming that 24" corresponds to a suitcase that measures about 55 cm on the diagonal, it should be no problem to bring three such suitcases onto a taxi.

What time does the jr close for Hokkaido pass exchange at abashiri?

I believe the opening hours are 9:30 to 17:00 on weekdays only. Closed on weekends and public holidays. I am not sure whether it is possible to exchange the pass at the regular ticket counter during the closing times, but I doubt it. The regular ticket counter at Abashiri closes at 22:30.

samui tokorono taxi capacity 2011/1/2 16:51

There are different size taxis available there. As Uji mentioned, reg size taxi seem to have plenty space in the trunk, however I've seen mini van type of taxis there that can carry a lot more and also there is shuttle type of buses. I think they are used to accommodating the tourists who come in with large suitcases and a pile of winter equipments for skiing and stuff so they are well prepared for it.
