Tokyo Earthquake Simulator - access? 2011/9/2 10:42
I wish to take my family to the Earthquake Simulator in Tokyo.

1/. Is it open to foreigners and do we need to make a booking?
2/. I know it's a 5min walk from Nishgahara station but I'm not exactly sure exactly how to walk there. Is there an access map somewhere?
3/. How much is the entry and how long should we allow?

There are a number of earthquake simulators -in Emergency Centres - the one in Nishigara is on the main road - Hongo dori. Go out exit 1 and turn left (away from Asukayama Park).

The one in Koto ku you need to attend a 30 minute video session in Japanese first... hence I didn't go in the simulator - now I have no wish to go in one!

Assuming you are going mainly for curiousity / fun, rather than with specific education objectives, it's probably worth being a bit sensitive to the fact there has just been a big one...

While you are in the area Kyu Furukawa Garden is very nearby. There is also a very good Japanese sweet shop if you like red bean paste between the Bousai Centre and Kyu Furukawa :)

The official name is "the science museum of earthquakes" in "Kita-ward Disaster Prevention Center".

It's by Takinogawa Fire Station.

It seems all Earthquake Simulators in Tokyo are located near Fire Station. So I found one near Ikebukuro(Ikebukuro fire station)
