I am planning to go Jozankei on 25 dec. Is the jozankei walking path [Futami park,Futami suspension bridge,Kappabuchi] open in winter?
How about the hokeikyo dam?How can i get to the dam?
Many thanks.

The walking path does not get cleared of snow. So, depending how much snow there is, it could be possible or it could be impossible.

Houheikyou Dam

Houheikyou Dam is a very popular site for autumn foliage during Oct. Starting mid Sept there is a free 20 min bus going there from Jozankei but the service is only in operation till the end of Oct. http://www.houheikyou.jp/access/index.html Upon arriving at the parking lot there is a shuttle bus going to the dam but again it is only operational till the end of Oct. http://www.houheikyou.jp/bus/index.html From the parking lot one can walk to the dam through a 2-part tunnel and would take 30+ min. but it is doubtful whether anyone would care to go during winter/snow condition.
