Takayama Festival - Train or bus from Kyoto

I will be making a trip to the Takayama Festival this year in April. I am considering whether to take a bus or train from Kyoto to Takayama on 13th, but am worried that there will traffic delay because of the Takayama Festival.

Will it be more advisable to travel by train during this period?

I don't think there will be any considerable traffic delay because of the festival. But buses are generally more prone to delays than trains.

I would be more concerned about being able to get a seat. Buses require seat reservations, while in case of trains a seat reservation is only optional because the trains also carry non-reserved cars. In other words: if the buses are booked out, you can't use them. But if the trains are booked out, you can still use them in the non-reserved car.
